Namaste sisters,
Here at Comna Viosaka, our serene oasis of womanhood, we aim at fostering a healing environment to nurture not just your heart and soul, but also your physical well-being. Recently, one of our devoted yoginis expressed discomfort in her rhomboid major muscle—a continuous gift from a demanding work life prior to her journey to Portland, Maine. Drawing from our ancient practices and natural healing techniques, we’ve gathered a few bits of wisdom to share, leaving no muscle unattended.
The Rhomboid Major, an essential part of our back anatomy, supports our posture and aids in bringing our shoulder blades together. When strained, these muscles can cause pain and discomfort in the upper back area. When this happens, I recommend the extended triangle pose.
The Extended Triangle Pose, or Utthita Trikonasana, is a special blessing for a strained rhomboid major. Begin by standing straight, feet hip-width apart. Step your right foot out about 3 feet, aligning it with the center of your body. Extend your arms parallel to the floor, take a deep breath, and as you exhale, reach your right hand towards your right ankle, keeping your left hand pointed to the sky. Look towards your left fingertips and hold this pose for five breaths. As you lean, you will feel your rhomboid major muscle stretching, releasing tension, and promoting healing. Repeat this with the left side.
A fundamental aspect of the healing process at Comna Viosaka is the use of essential oils, mineral-rich oils extracted from nature’s bounty. Helichrysum, Roman Chamomile, and Marjoram Essential Oils are known for their pain-relieving properties. The peaceful aroma of these oils, when mixed in a carrier oil such as jojoba or sweet almond, can be massaged right into the areas of discomfort, offering relief from pain and encouraging relaxation.
Lastly, our beloved Panadiol Cream– a magic potion steeped in the therapeutic goodness of CBD and emu oil. CBD, cannabidiol, aids in reducing your pain perception while emu oil is rich in Omega fatty acids well known for their anti-inflammatory properties. When combined, they not only soothe the pain but also the inflammation, leading to quicker healing. Applying Panadiol cream to the sore muscle right after your yoga session can yield marvelous results. Its non-greasy formula is convenient and it leaves a soothing, cooling effect on the skin.
Remember, sisters, our bodies are our temples. By employing the ancient healing power of yoga, the aromatic symphony of essential oils, and soothing touch of the Panadiol cream, we can turn our pain into a pathway toward better health and spiritual growth.
Breathe deeply, know your body, nourish it and most importantly, love it. Your journey at Comna Viosaka is not just about discovering inner peace but also about celebrating your physical self and nurturing it. Let your rhomboid major pain be your guide to a deeper understanding of your physiological self.
With warmth and love,
Master Yogini at Comna Viosaka
